Quote line price calculator

Build the price of one quote line from labour, materials and fixed costs. You choose your own hourly rate, markup and VAT percentage. You see the total with the working next to it and copy the line as text. Everything stays in your browser.

The fields hold an example. Replace them with your own numbers.

The line

Labour

A percentage on top of the labour. Leave empty for no markup.

Materials

A percentage on top of what the materials cost you. Leave empty for no markup.

Fixed costs

One amount, excl. VAT, without markup.

VAT rate

You choose the rate that fits your situation; the calculator only applies the percentage.

Price per unit

Enter the line's quantity (for example 12 m²) to also see the price per unit.

Only in your own browser, not on our server. Unticking clears it again.

How the line price is built

A quote line can have three parts: labour (hours × hourly rate), materials (quantity × cost per piece, per kind) and fixed costs such as travel or disposal. What markup you put on each part is up to you.

Example: 8 hours × € 55 = € 440 labour. Materials: 12 × € 9.50 = € 114 plus 1 × € 24 = € 24, together € 138. With 15% markup on the materials, € 20.70 is added. Total excl. VAT: € 440 + € 138 + € 20.70 = € 598.70.

To see what a markup percentage means for your profit, use the markup and margin calculator. To build your own hourly rate, use the hourly rate calculator.

Frequently asked questions

How is the line price calculated?

Labour is hours × hourly rate. Each material row is quantity × cost per piece. Markup is the percentage you enter, on top of the materials (and optionally the labour). Your fixed costs are added. The result is the total excluding VAT. The VAT follows from the rate you choose.

Which VAT rate do I use?

That is your decision. The calculator uses the percentage you choose or type and gives no opinion on which rate fits your work. If you are unsure, ask the tax authority or your accountant.

Why is my amount a cent off from my calculator?

Every amount is rounded to whole cents, a half cent rounding up. You see the rounded sub-amounts in the result and in the text you copy, and the total is their sum.

What is the price per unit?

The total divided by the quantity of the line, for example the price per m² if you enter 12 m². It is only a division: it says nothing about what a unit should cost.

Are my numbers stored?

No. The calculation runs in your browser and your numbers never go to a server. We only count anonymously how the page is used (no cookies, no IP address). Only if you tick “Remember my input” does your own browser keep the numbers, on your own device.
