How the calculation works
You start from the total of the original quote, excluding VAT. Each change is extra work (added) or reduced work (taken off), and an amount or hours × hourly rate. The new total is the original total plus the extra work minus the reduced work.
Example: a quote of € 5,000, with € 250 extra work and € 80 reduced work, gives € 5,000 + € 250 − € 80 = € 5,170 excl. VAT. The difference is + € 170.
VAT is calculated on the new total, at the percentage you choose. The text you copy lists amounts only and assigns nothing to anyone.
Frequently asked questions
How is the new total calculated?
Original total + all extra work rows − all reduced work rows, excluding VAT. Then VAT is calculated once on the new total, at the rate you choose.
Can I use hours × rate instead of an amount?
Yes. Per row, enter either an amount or hours and hourly rate. If you enter both, the calculator asks you to choose, so nothing counts twice.
What is in the text I copy?
The original amount, your changes with their amounts, the new total excl. and incl. VAT and the difference. Your descriptions appear only in that text and stay in your browser.
Which VAT rate do I use?
That is your decision. The calculator uses the percentage you choose or type and gives no opinion on which rate fits.
Are my numbers stored?
No. The calculation runs in your browser and your numbers never go to a server. We only count anonymously how the page is used (no cookies, no IP address). Only if you tick “Remember my input” does your own browser keep the numbers, on your own device.
